GREECE PELOPONNESE ARCADIA PARALION ASTROS

The castle of Paralion Astros was built in 1256. During the Greek War of Independence (1824-25) the castle was fortified by the three Zafeiropoulos brothers, merchants that built their homes inside the castle.

The castle of Paralion Astros had two gates and was almost impenetrable due to its position on the steep rocky hill. This was backed by the walls, still standing to a height of 6 m, and battlements.
